10 Steps for a Stress-Free Housewarming Party
By www-thepropertyalliance-com August 23, 2019

Purchasing a home can be one of the most stressful events in our life. Some have said it’s worse than going through a divorce or overcoming the death of a loved one. While The Property Alliance makes your purchase as smooth as possible, it’s up to you to throw a welcoming party. We do have a few tips up our sleeves to ease the pain. Here are 10 tricks to throwing a bomb, stress-free housewarming party that everyone will enjoy.

Wait a few weeks before hosting the party

Things are crazy chaotic enough when transitioning into a new home. Allow yourself a few weeks to get settled in and put the finishing decorative touches on your home before inviting guests over. This will alleviate the unnecessary stress created by setting a date too close to move in. Also keep in mind- Nothing needs to be perfect! Everyone understands you’ve literally uprooted everything.

Email your invitations- Earth friendly & budget friendly

Evite is wonderful, FREE, online service that allows you to create fun invitations which are sent via email to all your friends & family. I recommend sending them out at least 2 weeks prior to your party date. Evite also allows you to see who responded and who you still need to follow up with.

PRO TIP: send out a reminder text the night before your shindig to all attendees who RSVP’D yes.

Organize it as an Open House

Invite all your guests to between the hours of 1pm an 4pm. This format will allow you ample time to visit with each guest & thank them for coming. Other attendees are free to walk through the home at will. This also gives opportunities to freshen up the appetizer spread in between waves of people.

Invite the neighbors

You should make friends with your neighbors and what better way to break the ice than to invite them over for the housewarming party.

Housewarming Registry

Any site worth its salt has a registry, but not everyone is tech savvy. If you’re going to create a registry, I recommend making it at a store where attendees can physically shop such as Target. There are kiosks where guests who wish to bring a gift can sift through your customized registry and mark off what they’ve purchased as to avoid duplicate gifts. However, site such as Wayfair, Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn are popular choices for housewarming registries.

Give it a theme

Remember this is supposed to be a fun event so get creative with it! Game night, wine & cheese only, murder mystery dinner; whatever you choose make sure it is simple.

Finger Snacks & Dessert

Easy, finger foods are best especially in an open house setting. Don’t feel like you need to make anything from scratch either. Store bought chips & queso are just as delicious as homemade.

Get the living room in order

Most people will congregate here and in the kitchen. These are the two areas of the house where you should focus your energy. Close off rooms that you do not wish guests to wonder through such as your bedroom.

Make a bomb playlist

Complete your vibe with a premeditated playlist on Spotify, Pandora or TIDAL. Great music will create great energy amongst your guests and have them all singing your praises when they leave for the evening.

Bust out the board games

Pick your poison! Team games that involve strategy are usually your best bet. For some fun games to choose from, check out the suggested link below.
